CV Format Mauritius: Best CV Structure for Jobs

CV FORMAT GUIDE ยท MAURITIUS

The Right CV Format Makes Your Experience Easier to Read.

A strong CV format helps recruiters understand your profile quickly. For most job applications in Mauritius and abroad, a clean structure, clear headings and ATS-conscious formatting work better than an over-designed document.

THE ESSENTIAL STRUCTURE

What Should a Good CV Format Include?

01

Contact & Profile

Start with your full name, phone number, professional email, location and a concise professional summary that explains your experience and value.

02

Skills & Experience

Show relevant core skills, then list work experience in reverse chronological order with clear job titles, employers, dates, responsibilities and achievements.

03

Education & Extras

Add education, certifications, languages, software and other useful information only when it strengthens your application.

ATS-FRIENDLY CV FORMAT

Keep It Clean, Clear and Easy to Scan.

ATS software and recruiters both benefit from a logical document structure. Use standard section names, readable fonts, consistent spacing and simple formatting. Avoid unnecessary text boxes, complex graphics and decorative elements that can make important information harder to process.

Use a clear reading order. A strong CV format normally starts with your name and contact details, followed by a professional summary, relevant skills, work experience, education and certifications. Recruiters should be able to understand your profile within a few seconds without searching around the page.

Choose simple professional typography. Use one easy-to-read font throughout the document and keep font sizes consistent. Your name and section headings can be slightly larger, while the main content should remain comfortable to read on both desktop and mobile screens. Keep enough white space between sections so the CV does not feel crowded.

Keep work experience consistent. List your most recent position first and use the same pattern for every role: job title, employer, location, dates, responsibilities and achievements. Short bullet points are usually easier to scan than long paragraphs. Where possible, include specific results, responsibilities or measurable achievements instead of generic descriptions.

Prepare the file carefully. Before applying, check spelling, dates and contact details, then save the final document with a professional filename such as Firstname-Lastname-CV.pdf. When an employer asks for Word format, keep the editable version available as well. A well-organised CV format will not guarantee an interview, but it helps ensure that your experience is presented clearly, professionally and in a way that is easier for recruiters and recruitment systems to review.

One Page or Two Pages?

A one-page CV can work well for fresh graduates and candidates with limited experience. Two pages are appropriate when you have enough relevant work history, achievements or technical information to justify the extra space.

The goal is not to force everything onto one page. The goal is to make every section useful, relevant and easy to understand.
